Dr. Joi Adell, LPCCS

Introducing Dr. Joi Adell, the visionary CEO and founder of Columbus Counseling and Mentoring Institute. Dr. Adell is a highly esteemed licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor with a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of counseling, supervision, and mentorship.

Dr. Adell's journey in the field of counseling began with a strong foundation in health sciences, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University. She furthered her education with a certificate in gerontology, enhancing her understanding of aging populations and their unique needs. Dr. Adell then pursued her passion for education, obtaining a Master of Education degree from the University of Dayton, where she honed her skills in teaching and training.

Driven by a desire to expand her knowledge and impact, Dr. Adell earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, equipping herself with valuable business acumen and leadership skills. Undeterred in her pursuit of excellence, she continued her academic journey, earning a Ph.D. in counseling supervision from Capella University, specializing in mentoring and guiding future counselors.

With her diverse educational background and extensive experience, Dr. Adell is a dynamic leader who is deeply committed to the growth and development of individuals and communities. She has a passion for learning and personal and professional growth, which she instills in all aspects of her work.

Throughout her career, Dr. Adell has demonstrated a remarkable ability to connect with and empower others. She has taught master's level counseling courses, trained interns, and provided supervision, individual, and group counseling services. Her dedication to working with children and families is evident in her compassionate approach and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in their lives.

Rahjae Johnson

Meet Rahjae Johnson, a passionate advocate for youth empowerment and community engagement, born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Rahjae's journey in mentoring and community service began during her high school years and her true passion lies in making a positive impact on the lives of youth in her community. Rahjae's commitment to youth empowerment is evident in her extensive involvement in various volunteer initiatives such as fundraising efforts for youth athletes participating in the Special Olympics, a cause she continues to support even years after her graduation with volunteering with nonprofit home shelters for youth where she spearheaded an initiative where Nationwide Insurance sponsored and funded five of these shelters, furthering her commitment to supporting vulnerable youth in need. Additionally, Rahjae led the Princess Project organization, where she served as a mentor to 10 to 15 students, providing them with guidance, resources, and companionship to help them achieve their goals. Rahjae's dedication to serving her community extends beyond youth mentorship. She has volunteered as a music instructor for toddlers and children aged 5 to 7, sharing her passion for music and creative expression. Rahjae's diverse experiences and unwavering commitment to serving others make her a dedicated and compassionate mentor, eager to inspire and uplift those around her.

Mika (Mikey) Marteina

Introducing Mikey Marteina, a dedicated mentor with over 16 years of experience in supporting children with diverse needs. With a background in working with kids with autism, developmental disabilities, and mental health challenges, Mikey brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his mentoring role. Mikey's journey began working with children in various settings, including residential facilities and psychiatric facilities, where he provided compassionate care and support to kids aged 5 to 18. His experiences have equipped him with a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by children with diverse backgrounds and abilities. In addition to his professional roles, Mikey has also contributed to his community through programs like the City of Columbus Parks and Recreation, where he engaged with children in recreational activities and fostered a positive and supportive environment for their growth and development. As a strength and conditioning coach, Mikey not only focused on physical health but also instilled values of discipline, resilience, and teamwork in the children he worked with. His holistic approach to mentoring emphasizes not only academic and physical development but also social and emotional well-being. Mikey's passion for mentoring stems from his belief in the potential of every child to succeed and thrive. He is committed to providing personalized support, encouragement, and guidance to help children overcome obstacles, build confidence, and reach their full potential. With Mikey Marteina as their mentor, children can expect a caring and dedicated partner in their journey towards growth, empowerment, and success.

Joyelle Marteina

Introducing Joyelle Marteina, a dedicated mentor with a passion for empowering children and youth to thrive. With over nine years of hands-on experience working with young people, Joyelle brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to her mentoring role. Joyelle's journey in mentoring began in 2003 when she had the privilege of volunteering in the City Year program, where she served communities as a volunteer, making a positive impact in the lives of children and families. During her time at Heyl Elementary School, Joyelle mentored four amazing children, dedicating herself to helping them reach and surpass their grade level in reading and writing. Her tireless efforts and unwavering support have inspired and empowered her mentees to achieve their full potential. In addition to her volunteer work, Joyelle has actively pursued opportunities for learning and growth in child development and parenting. She has attended foster parenting classes and completed parenting courses, equipping herself with valuable knowledge and skills to better support children in her care. As a kinship placement for several children, Joyelle provides a safe and loving home environment where children can thrive and flourish. Her nurturing and compassionate approach to caregiving fosters a sense of security and belonging, ensuring that every child feels valued and supported. Joyelle's dedication to making a difference in the lives of children is evident in her unwavering commitment to their well-being and success. With her wealth of experience, compassion, and dedication, Joyelle is honored to serve as a mentor, guiding and inspiring children to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.
